Not that you guys care, but…
The Harry Potter confessions blog has recently put out two or three graphics about “Well if Snape really loved Lily he wouldn’tve been so awful to Harry” and “I don’t care how much he loved Lily, I can’t stand Snape because of how he treats Harry.”
So let me get this straight. If you fell in love with a girl, and she fell in love with someone else, but you kept loving her anyway, and she and her husband end up dead, with a surviving son who grows up to look and act pretty much the same as the stupid guy the girl you loved married, and you’d be nice to him? Even if every time you see him you can’t help but think about James, who tormented you beyond belief growing up, way more than your casual jeers at Harry, whose existence left you obligated to live a dangerous and potentially deadly double life to protect him? And you wouldn’t throw a few punches?
I’m not saying he’s a perfect character. He’s not. But he’s redeemable. Yeah, he gave crap to Harry at times, but didn’t you read about what James did to him? Seeing James’ likeness in the same setting would set me off, I know it would. Did Harry deserve this? No. But neither did Snape deserve the crap James gave him.
Am I making sense?
Okay. End rant at people who don’t follow me and thus will never read this. It just needed to be said.
